TikTok is developing a new "Collaboration" feature that will allow users to tag collaborators on a post, linking their profiles to the post details. This feature was discovered by app researcher Radu Oncescu and further investigated by The SpAndroid team.
Key details of the Collaboration feature include:
- Creators can invite up to 5 other creators for a collaboration post.
- Users will have the ability to approve or decline collaborator listings.
- Users can remove themselves as collaborators retrospectively.
- Collaborator posts will appear on both the creator and collaborator profiles, but only the creator can edit the post.
- Users can invite people to collaborate on a post up to four times each month.
This feature is similar to Instagram's collaborative posts, with the main difference being the limit on the number of collaborators and the number of collaboration posts per month.
The Collaboration feature is expected to be a valuable addition to TikTok, providing another way to engage with specific audiences, increase reach in the app, conduct affiliate campaigns, and showcase brands to more users via partner accounts. The feature is currently in late-stage testing and is expected to be released soon.
