Starting with the Editor 2.9 release, the Mac version of Google Ads Editor now requires MacOS 12 or later. Google has also announced that Editor will stop supporting Editor version 2.5 and below.
New Features
Account Management Enhancements
- Support for manager account (MCC) owned labels: Labels created in a Google Ads manager account can now be attached to entities in child serving accounts, including campaigns, ad groups, keywords, and ads. While these labels cannot be created, removed, or edited, they function similarly to traditional labels.
Shopping and Retail Improvements
- Allow shopping ads on excluded brands: This new option for Retail Performance Max campaigns with shopping settings enables ads to serve on brand-related search terms that would typically be blocked by brand exclusions.
- New customer acquisition in Shopping campaigns: Google has extended new customer acquisition goal support to Shopping campaigns, previously only available for Search and Performance Max campaigns.
Video Advertising Advancements
- Generate vertical videos for responsive video ads: This setting is now available for responsive video ads within Video views campaigns (standard Video campaigns with Target CPV bidding).
- Support for Masthead ads: Users can now create and manage Masthead ads and Masthead ad groups.
- Video enhancements for Demand Gen video ads: The "Generate shorter videos" setting (AutoTrim) can now be toggled on or off for Demand Gen Video ads.
- VRC ad group conversion tool: With VRC 1.0 campaigns being replaced by VRC 2.0 campaigns, Google introduced a conversion tool that changes ad group types to "Responsive" and replaces in-stream and bumper ads with similar Responsive video ads.
- Pause ad image field: An optional field has been added for responsive video ads, primarily for "Pause ads" in Video reservation campaigns.
Campaign Management Updates
- Age exclusions in Performance Max campaigns: Negative age criteria can now be added to Performance Max campaigns at the campaign level.
- Limited support for lift measurement: Campaigns can now be added to or removed from existing lift measurements.
- Inventory control in Demand Gen: Support for "Channels" (inventory control setting) has been added for ad groups under Demand Gen campaigns.
Workflow Improvements
- Multi-tab export and import to Google Sheets: Each entity type can now be exported to its own tab in Google Sheets, making data management easier with fewer columns and blank cells.
- Color highlighting in export to Sheets: Local edits can now be highlighted with various colors when exporting to Google Sheets.
- "Fix misconfigured deep links" recommendation: Editor now supports this recommendation with a "Get Started" link to open the Deep Link Validator tool in an external browser.
- Ad preview for RSA and asset groups: A new Ad Preview link allows users to display realistic previews of responsive search ads and asset groups, incorporating local changes and applicable ad extensions.
Deprecated Features
- Enhanced CPC deprecation: Editor will report an error when Enhanced CPC is enabled with Maximize Clicks strategy or with Manual CPC strategy for Search or Display campaigns.
- Block content exclusions in Video and Demand Gen campaigns: Content exclusions are now only supported in Search Standard and Display campaigns at the campaign and account levels.
- Standard Video campaigns with Target CRM bidding: VRC 1.0 campaigns are being replaced with VRC 2.0 campaigns, which include inventory control settings and require responsive ad groups and responsive video ads.
