Instagram is adding protections for Teen Accounts, restricting users under 16 from going Live or disabling unwanted image filters in DMs without parental consent. Teen Accounts will also be available on Facebook and Messenger, providing similar safety features. Currently, 97% of teens aged 13-15 keep default restrictions, and 94% of US parents find these accounts helpful. Features include private accounts and content controls to enhance teen safety.
The oEmbed feature enables apps to embed HTML and metadata for public Facebook and Instagram content. Recent updates to oEmbed endpoints will remove certain fields and deprecate the Facebook page posts endpoint. Developers can request the new meta_oembed_read feature without changes. Existing users will transition to this feature by October 1, 2025. Instagram will no longer provide thumbnail fields, so developers should create their own.
