In May 2024, Google announced a new feature called Digital Coupons. These coupons, based on Promotion Assets, will be integrated into Performance Max campaigns for store goals and displayed on Google Maps.
Key Features
- Availability: Digital coupons will be available in all regions except for European Economic Area countries.
- User Interaction: Users can view, save, and share digital coupons with friends and family.
- Redemption: Coupons can be redeemed both online and offline in-store.
- Performance: During the pilot, advertisers saw an average +42% CTR lift by appending this feature to their PMAX campaigns for store goals.
Usage
- Digital coupons can be used via promotion assets to highlight discounts and offers, encouraging customers to visit physical stores.
- In Google Maps, users can view, save, and share digital coupons for in-store and online redemption.
Setup Requirements
To set up a digital coupon via promotion assets, the following inputs are required:
- Promotion type
- Promotion amount
- Item
- Logo
- Image
- Business name
- Description
- Promotion code (optional)
- Promotion start and end date (optional)
- Terms and conditions (optional)
Reporting
- Reporting details can be found in the “Assets” view under predefined reports available only at the campaign level.
- Coupon save performance can be reviewed by searching for "alp_save_coupon" under the “All conv.” column in Google Ads. Note that coupon saves aren’t reported at the store level.
Important Notes
- Digital coupons via promotion assets only serve on Performance Max campaigns with an offline conversion goal.

This feature aims to enhance customer engagement and drive both online and offline store visits through the use of digital coupons. Read official documentation here.
