Google Maps Updates Suggest An Edit Workflow

Google has updated the Suggest an Edit feature within Google Maps business listings to make it easier for users to help update Google Maps data. The new flow allows users to search for a place or select it on the map, choose Suggest an Edit, select the item they wish to update such as the business name or operating hours, and either make a change or indicate that a detail is incorrect without knowing the exact information.

To use the updated Suggest an Edit feature in Google Maps, follow these steps:

1. Search for a place or select it on the map.
2. Select Suggest an Edit from the place listing.
3. Choose the item you wish to update, like the business name or operating hours.
4. Make a change or select Don't know, but this is incorrect if you are unsure of the correct details. You can also add more items that need updating from the menu at the top of the editing screen.

When you submit edits through the Suggest an Edit feature, you receive points towards your Local Guide profile. Approved edits are rewarded with 5 points, while selecting Don't know, but this is incorrect earns you 1 point per editing submission. These points are given regardless of the number of details updated.

The updated Suggest an Edit interface is currently available on Android and will be coming to iOS soon, according to Google's announcement.
