Google is expanding its Image AI Editing Features in Google Ads to more accounts. Initially launched in May, the tools aims to help advertisers create high-quality image assets quickly using generative AI tools.
The tool creates new image assets in seconds. Advertisers can enter their own prompts to generate images tailored to their business and brand. Google may also suggest generated images for review.
Available Features
- Image Crop: Crop images to predefined aspect ratios.
- Replace Background: Remove and restore backgrounds.
- Adjust Color: Adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, and other basic image features.
How to Access These Features
Google has integrated links to these features in various places within its online interface:
- Via Shared Library when adding a new image asset to the ad.
- Within “More actions” (three-dot icon) where “Copy and edit with AI” is the only option.
- By clicking on the icon located at the bottom right of the thumbnail.
Eligibility
Access to manually prompted image generation is restricted based on several criteria:
- The account must be active and running ads for at least 30 days.
- The account should have a history of policy compliance.
- The account should not have completed Election Advertising Verification.
- The account should not be advertising in sensitive verticals (e.g., sexual and political).
If the account is newer, automatically suggested generated images may still appear for review when creating certain campaigns. These features are rolling out gradually, so they may not be available to all eligible advertisers yet.
