An increasing number of organizations, including Continental and EY, are offering their employees opportunities to work abroad for extended periods. This strategy aims to enhance staff retention and foster in-person connections among remote workers.
Several of these companies have been featured in LinkedIn’s 2024 Top Companies list. For instance, Deloitte (#4) provides a global mobility program, while American Express (#49) has international buddy programs. Airbus (#42) includes international assignments in its employee growth initiatives, and Bank of America (#12) promotes employee travel through its new sabbatical program, which offers 4-6 weeks of paid time off after 15 years of service.
Continental (#29) provides both short- and long-term international job rotations, offering travel benefits and internal mobility opportunities. EY (#18) receives over 50,000 internal applications each year for cross-border positions, a figure that continues to rise. According to EY, employees who have participated in a mobility assignment tend to stay with the company longer, demonstrating a 15% higher retention rate compared to those who have not.
