Singapore's Online Criminal Harms Act (OCHA) mandates enhanced verification measures for advertisers on platforms like Meta. As a result, Meta is updating its verification requirements for all advertisers targeting Singaporean audiences, with new transparency obligations.
Advertisers can begin the verification process by early April and must complete it by the end of June 2025. Key points include:
Verification of Beneficiary and Payer: Advertisers must verify who benefits from and who pays for their ads before targeting Singapore. Existing verified business portfolios may allow some advertisers to skip this step.
Disclosure of Verified Information: All ads must include the name of the individual or organization responsible for the ad's payment and benefit. This information will be displayed on the ad's infosheet and in the Ad Library.
The rollout of these verification and transparency processes is expected to begin in early April, with most advertisers gaining access by early May 2025. Advertisers are encouraged to complete the verification and designate the required information promptly once notified in Ads Manager.
