Google Tag Gateway is introducing a beta integration with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) that allows users to deploy the technology with a single click. This setup involves configuring an External Application Load Balancer with routing rules directing GTG traffic to a backend service managing the gateway.
What is Google Tag Gateway?
Google Tag Gateway enables Google's tagging technologies to operate behind a first-party host, maintaining same-site and same-origin relationships with the websites sending data to Google services. This setup enhances resilience against tracking prevention measures like Apple's Intelligent Tracking Prevention and ad blocking.
Previous Deployment Options
Before this GCP integration, Cloudflare was the only automated deployment option for Google Tag Gateway. While manual setups could be done on any cooperative CDN, automated integrations reduce friction and simplify deployment choices.
Current Status and Expectations
The GCP integration is still in beta and rolling out gradually. More detailed information and documentation from Google are expected to become available soon.
