Google Ads has introduced a new Beta feature called "Learning Phase Estimates" for Demand Gen campaigns. This new forecasting tool provides advertisers with crucial performance metrics before launching their campaigns.
The new forecast card displays three essential metrics:
- Days to First Conversion: Predicts the timeline for achieving the initial campaign conversion
- First Week Conversions: Estimates the number of conversions expected within the first seven days
- Days in Learning Phase: Projects the duration needed to gather sufficient conversion data to exit the learning phase
Performance Indicators
Google Ads has implemented a visual indicator system to help advertisers assess campaign potential:
- A checkmark icon appears next to estimates that meet or exceed typical successful campaign performance expectations
- An information icon marks estimates that fall below typical performance expectations
Performance Factors
Several factors influence the learning phase duration and campaign performance:
The campaign's daily budget shows an inverse relationship with the learning phase duration - higher budgets typically result in shorter learning periods. Additionally, utilizing the system's recommended CPA target helps optimize the learning phase duration. Advertisers can also reduce the learning period by increasing the CPA target, which provides more flexibility for campaign optimization.
