Microsoft Clarity introduces a new feature called Notes, designed to simplify capturing and sharing insights directly within session recordings. This feature eliminates the need for manual workflows like jotting down timestamps, taking screenshots, or using separate documents, making collaboration faster and more efficient.
Capture Key Moments Instantly
Previously, users had to rely on time-consuming manual methods to flag important moments in recordings. With Notes, users can leave comments directly on the timeline at the exact moment of interest, such as bugs, drop-offs, or unique user actions. This allows for:
- Adding comments without switching tools
- Instantly revisiting key moments from the timeline or info tab
- Avoiding extra documents or spreadsheets by keeping contextual, in-line notes attached to the session
Enhance Team Collaboration
User feedback highlighted challenges in explaining session events and maintaining context, often causing delays and confusion. Notes address this by embedding comments within the session itself, allowing teammates to see and respond to insights in context. This supports both real-time and asynchronous collaboration, keeping discussions focused and reducing friction.
Replace Disconnected Tools
Before Notes, users relied on a patchwork of tools like email, Teams, spreadsheets, and Slack to share session insights, leading to fragmented conversations and lost information. Notes centralize all comments within Clarity, eliminating the need to switch platforms or manually sync insights, streamlining the workflow.
Designed for Fast-Moving Teams
Notes are visible at the project level and include features that support clear communication:
- Identification of who left each note
- Collapsible, clickable, and easy-to-navigate comments
These features ensure that teams of any size can stay aligned and keep insights actionable.
Efficiently Locate Notes with Labels
Every Note added to a recording automatically applies a custom “Note” label to that session. This enables users to:
- Quickly filter recordings to show only those with Notes
- Combine the Note label with other filters (device type, traffic source, favorites) to pinpoint relevant sessions
- Surface key sessions faster during UX reviews, bug triage, or team meetings
This automatic labeling keeps insights organized and easy to find, even weeks after they are added.
