Marketing API enhances Ads in Threads with new formats and optimizations

Marketing API enhances Ads in Threads with new formats and optimizations

Threads is evolving as a platform for advertisers, boasting over 400 million monthly active users. It provides an opportunity to extend existing campaigns and engage in conversations within this expanding space. To enhance the ad experience and performance, Threads is introducing new ad formats and creative enhancements.

New Threads MAPI Features

  • 4:5 Ad Rendering: The maximum height for single image and video ads has increased from 1:1 to 4:5. Any tall assets (≥4:5) will be cropped and centered to fit this new format.

  • Video Ad Format: MAPI now supports video ads in all aspect ratios from 1.91:1 to 9:16. Campaigns using video ads will deliver to Threads, with videos taller than 4:5 being cropped, while those within the 1.91:1 to 4:5 range will remain unaltered.

  • Static Carousel Ad Format: Support for 1:1 image carousel ads has been launched, allowing both new and previous campaigns to deliver these ads to Threads.

  • Placement Asset Customization (PAC): Advertisers can now customize creative assets displayed on Threads, although carousel ad format customization is not yet available.
