Google is updating its Ads Transparency policy to enhance the visibility of information regarding the entities financing ads, implementing changes in two phases.
Phase One: May 2025
Starting in May 2025, Google will show the payment profile name as the payer name for verified advertisers if it differs from their verified advertiser name. For verified agency accounts, the client payment profile will be used as the payer name under similar conditions. This information will be accessible in the “My Ad Center” panel and the Ads Transparency Center. Agencies currently misclassified as direct advertisers must reset their verification and re-verify as agencies by May 31, 2025, to avoid incorrect payer name displays.
Phase Two: June 2025
In June 2025, Google Ads advertisers will gain the ability to edit their displayed payer name through the advertiser verification page under billing. Any modifications made will replace the payment profile name. New advertisers will initially see their payment profile name as the payer name unless they opt to change it during verification.
Election Ads
Verified Election Ads advertisers have already submitted their payer names during the verification process, which will continue to follow existing policies. To update their payer name, these advertisers must undergo election advertising verification again.
