Google Ads has introduced new text guidelines to enhance creative control when using AI-generated assets in AI Max for Search or PMax campaigns. These guidelines allow advertisers to refine text in two main ways:
Term Exclusions
Advertisers can add up to 25 exact words or phrases they want excluded from generated assets. For example, excluding the word "cheap" ensures it never appears in the text.
Message Restrictions
Using natural language, advertisers can specify concepts, associations, or styles to avoid in text assets. For instance, a restriction like "Don’t imply our products are discounted" prevents terms such as discount, cheap, or bargain from appearing. Up to 40 message restrictions can be added per campaign.
These text guidelines aim to provide more precise creative direction and will begin rolling out to more advertisers this fall. Additional examples and guidance are available in the Google Ads Help Center.
