Google has introduced two new video features for PMax campaigns: direct video uploads via the "Edit Assets" interface and automatic import of social-sourced videos through Pathmatics.
Direct Video Uploads to the House Channel
PMax campaigns now allow direct uploading of video files without needing to first upload them to YouTube or add them to the asset library. These videos are stored in a Google-managed "House channel," not the standard YouTube brand channel. This method simplifies adding new videos when YouTube upload is not feasible.
However, videos in the House channel have several limitations:
- No access to YouTube Analytics
- Cannot build remarketing lists
- No editing of video details (title, description)
- No custom thumbnail option
- No ability to appeal video takedowns
Uploading videos to the YouTube brand channel remains best practice, with the House channel as a secondary option. The official Help page has been updated with more details on the House channel.
Social-Sourced Videos via Pathmatics
Google now suggests videos automatically pulled from social ad platforms like Facebook and Instagram when editing PMax campaign asset groups. These videos appear under the "Social (Beta)" tab in the asset selection screen. The source is listed as “ad sourced by Pathmatics (by Sensor Tower),” a marketing intelligence platform tracking digital advertising.
Videos sourced through Pathmatics are also becoming available for Demand Gen campaigns. There is currently no dedicated help page for these Pathmatics-sourced videos.
