Threads Now Testing Auto Archiving Feature for Posts

The Auto Post Archiving Option on Threads is a feature that allows users to set their posts to be automatically archived after a certain period of time. This means that the posts will be removed from public view but can be unarchived and made public again at the user's discretion. Users can choose to archive posts manually for individual posts or set them to auto-archive all posts after a specified time.

Adam Mosseri believes the Auto Post Archiving Option is beneficial because it aligns with the trend of users being more cautious about public posting and opting for private group chats instead. He suggests that people may not want their posts to remain on the internet indefinitely, where they could be used against them in the future. Adam Mosseri first proposed the idea of an auto-archive for Threads posts back in February, prior to the live test launch. He had run a poll on the idea, which resulted in significant opposition from users, but he has continued to advocate for the feature, believing it to be a better approach for managing online content.

The decline in public sharing on social platforms can be attributed to several factors, including:
