Google has issued a warning in Looker Studio regarding the expiration of Universal Analytics (UA) data, which appears for all users of the Google Analytics connector, regardless of whether they're using UA or Google Analytics 4 (GA4).
The banner, visible at the top of Looker Studio reports loading Google Analytics data via a native connector, states:
This report uses data from Universal Analytics. After July 1, 2024, charts with data from any UA property will return no data. If you haven't already, make the switch to Google Analytics 4.
Importantly, this warning is valid for Universal Analytics users. However, GA4 users should disregard this message, as it doesn't apply to their data.
The banner is only visible to editors in view and edit mode; readers of the reports cannot see it. Google is expected to address this issue soon, either by refining the banner's display logic to show only for UA users or by removing it entirely.
This situation highlights the ongoing transition from UA to GA4 and the importance of understanding which analytics version you're using in your reports.
