Instagram has launched new views-related metrics aimed at helping Reels creators enhance their content performance. A significant addition is the “View Rate” metric, which shows the percentage of viewers who watched beyond the first three seconds of a video. This allows creators to assess their video's performance against average retention rates, offering insights into viewer engagement.
To better understand content performance, creators now have access to more metrics and actionable tips in their Insights. Instagram highlights that “Watch Time” is the main driver of reach on the platform, emphasizing the importance of keeping viewers engaged for longer durations. The new “Views Over Time” feature provides a detailed comparison of video performance between followers and non-followers, enabling creators to pinpoint effective elements in their videos.
Additionally, Instagram has introduced a tips element in the performance overview, which offers comparative data on each video's performance. These updates focus on views as a critical metric, potentially broadening audience reach by showcasing both successful and ineffective aspects of video content.
