Instagram has expanded its Notes messaging feature to include Reels and feed posts. Users can now leave Notes on these posts, similar to Post-It messages, which last for three days and can only be left by mutual followers. This feature aims to increase interaction among friends and has been particularly popular with teenagers, who create Notes at ten times the rate of non-teens.
Initially launched as an inbox-only feature, Notes has since been expanded to profiles and now includes additional features. Instagram's early testing showed that users enjoy leaving quick thoughts and commentary, especially on comedic content.
Instagram is also promoting Notes by notifying users when their connections leave their first Note. The new feature allows users to react to posts in real-time, share unfiltered opinions on timely content, and hype up their friends' posts. While the feature is primarily targeted at younger users, it could also serve as an interactive tool for other audiences.
