YouTube unveils 3 new updates, including live stream reaction analytics

YouTube has unveiled three new updates for content creators, which are designed to provide a deeper understanding of their audience and enhance the user experience. These updates include:

• Live stream reaction analytics: This feature provides real-time analytics for live streams, allowing creators to monitor viewer reactions, such as emojis, as they happen.

• Impression breakdown: A new filter in YouTube Studio Analytics that segments the number of impressions by new and returning viewers, helping creators to understand their audience better and adjust their content strategy.

• HDR live streaming: Creators can now live stream to YouTube in HDR, offering crisper whites, inkier blacks, and colors that pop, for a higher-quality viewing experience.

To access live stream reaction analytics on YouTube, creators need to visit their content and navigate to the overview tab in either Studio web or mobile. This feature allows them to see real-time analytics, including the number and types of reactions received during their live streams.

HDR live streaming on YouTube is a new functionality that allows creators to stream in High Dynamic Range (HDR), providing a higher-quality video with crisper whites, inkier blacks, and more vibrant colors. To use HDR live streaming, creators should ensure their monitor supports HDR and, if using a camera, it also supports HDR for PQ or HLG. Streaming in HDR is currently possible via RTMP with the latest OBS 30.1 release and using the hgvc Kodak. However, streaming HDR with ab1 is not yet supported.
