The update from YouTube introduces several new features aimed at enhancing creator and viewer interaction, particularly focusing on Communities, gift effects, and gift goals.
Direct Links for Communities
YouTube has made it easier for creators to share their Community by adding the ability to create a direct link. This feature is designed to help creators promote their Community more effectively across social channels, encouraging engagement and interaction.
Gift Effects
YouTube launched Gift Effects, which are interactive visual effects that appear on screen when viewers redeem Jules during vertical livestreams. These effects include five new options: Cat ears, Good Job, Flower Crown, Celebrate, and Royal Crown. They display for 8 to 15 seconds and are marked with a purple sparkle icon in the gift picker to help viewers identify interactive gifts. Gift Effects are currently rolling out to all eligible US channels.
Gift Goals Experiment
YouTube is experimenting with Gift Goals, an expansion of the Live Goals feature tailored for vertical live streams. Gift Goals allow creators to set a target gift amount and a timeframe during a live stream, encouraging viewers to contribute towards a shared goal. Once the goal is reached, creators can celebrate with their audience. Only one gift goal can be active at a time. This feature is currently in experimental phase on Vertical Immersive live streams on mobile in the US.
Additional Details
- Viewers purchase bundles of Jules upfront to send multiple GIFs and can buy more when supplies run out.
- Gift Goals are accessed and managed by tapping the bullseye icon during live streams.
- The update encourages community building by motivating viewers to work towards common missions.
These features aim to deepen engagement between creators and their audiences, enhancing the interactive experience on YouTube's platform.
