YouTube is testing the inclusion of image posts in the Shorts feed to help creators reach their audience in a new format. Creators can add up to 10 images per post, allowing for storytelling through side-scrolling still images similar to TikTok and Instagram. All image posts made via the “Create” button may appear in the Shorts feed during this experiment. YouTube acknowledges the importance of audio for expression and plans to update users as they test music integration with these image posts. This change aligns Shorts with other short-form content platforms, reflecting a trend where platforms increasingly adopt similar features, reducing their differentiation.
