YouTube has announced the integration of Google DeepMind's video generation model, Veo 2, into its Dream Screen feature for Shorts, enhancing video creation capabilities. This upgrade allows users to generate unique AI backgrounds and standalone video clips using simple text prompts, making it easier to create content that aligns with their narratives.
The upgraded Dream Screen now produces high-quality videos faster and with improved realism, understanding real-world physics and human movement. Users can specify styles, lenses, and cinematic effects to better express their creativity.
To utilize these features, users can access the Shorts camera, select Green Screen, and then Dream Screen to create video backgrounds. For adding clips, they can tap Add in the media picker, input their prompt, and create the desired video length.
Currently, these features are available in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, with plans for future expansion. YouTube employs SynthID watermarks to indicate AI-generated content, aiming to empower creators in realizing their creative visions.
