OpenAI and Reddit have announced a partnership aimed at benefiting both user communities. The partnership will enable OpenAI to bring enhanced Reddit content to ChatGPT and new products. To achieve this, OpenAI will access Reddit's Data API, providing real-time, structured, and unique content from Reddit. This will allow OpenAI's AI tools to better understand and showcase Reddit content, particularly on recent topics.
The partnership will also allow Reddit to introduce new AI-powered features to redditors and mods. Reddit will build on OpenAI's platform of AI models to bring its vision to life. Additionally, OpenAI will become a Reddit advertising partner. The partnership aims to make Reddit content more accessible, fostering human learning, and researching ways to build community, belonging, and empowerment online.
The partnership was led by OpenAI's COO and approved by its independent Board of Directors. It's important to note that Sam Altman, a shareholder in Reddit, is also part of OpenAI.
