Instagram may soon enable cross-posting of Stories to WhatsApp, potentially expanding content reach. WhatsApp Status has 450 million daily active users and is growing in Western markets. App researcher Alessandro Paluzzi shared a screenshot indicating this upcoming feature.
Currently, Instagram Stories can be cross-posted to Facebook. Adding WhatsApp, especially to WhatsApp Status (its Stories equivalent), could further extend audience reach. However, some formatting issues, like interactive stickers, may arise due to platform differences.
The feature could be particularly useful for WhatsApp Channels, which now has 500 million users. Brands could benefit from easily re-sharing Stories to their Channels for product updates. This integration is still in the back-end code stage and not yet a functional update from Meta. If implemented, it could significantly enhance content distribution.
