Several new API features and improvements are introduced to enhance branded content workflows, content performance measurement, collaborative media access, and engagement management on Instagram via the Instagram API with Facebook Login.
Partnership Ads Label on Content Publishing API
- Support added for the partnership ads label on the Content Publishing API.
- Third-party platforms can now publish organic posts with the “Paid partnership” disclosure label directly at publish time.
- Creators can:
- Tag one or more brand partners, displaying “Paid partnership with [Brand]”.
- Use the Business Discovery API to find brand IDs by username.
- Enable the “Paid partnership” disclosure label without naming a brand.
- Supports all media types: photos, Reels, carousels, and Stories.
New Engagement and Insights Metrics
- New metrics available via two endpoints: Media endpoint (quick engagement counts) and Insights endpoint (detailed analytics).
- New Engagement Metrics via Media endpoint:
- Reposts Count: Number of times a post or Reel is reposted.
- Saved Count: Number of times a post or Reel is saved (accessible to media owner or collaborators).
- Shares Count: Number of times a post or Reel is shared.
- Aggregated Metrics Across Placements:
- Combine data across Instagram, crossposted Facebook, and boosted media.
- Metrics include Total Views, Total Likes, and Total Comments.
- Available on both Media and Insights endpoints for Feed posts, Reels, and Stories.
- Facebook Views and Business Discovery Updates:
- facebook_views metric expanded from Reels to Feed posts and Stories.
- Coverage now includes crossposted plays and Instagram-to-Facebook recommended content.
- Business Discovery API's view_count now returns combined Instagram and Facebook video views.
Collaborative Media Endpoint
- New endpoints allow access to media where a user is an accepted collaborator.
- Features:
- Retrieve a list of all collaborative media (posts, Reels, etc.).
- Search for specific collaborative media by ID.
- Access all media fields, including new engagement metrics like total likes, comments, reposts, saves, shares, and views.
Like Media and Comments API
- Enables liking and unliking of Instagram Feed posts, Reels, and comments via API on behalf of app users.
- Supports managing engagement workflows such as liking comments or collaborative content.
- Requires instagram_manage_engagement permission.
- Does not support Stories or content from private accounts.
