Google Merchant Center Certification now mandates emissions-related labeling in addition to energy efficiency. Use the certification
attribute to describe product certifications, such as energy efficiency ratings.
When to Use
- Required: For products needing specific information in Shopping ads or free listings due to local regulations on energy efficiency or emissions labeling.
- Optional: For all other products.
Regional Requirements
- Germany: Legally required to display CO2 emission class for new vehicles.
- France: Optional to display CO2 emission class.
- Other Markets: Not explicitly required to display emissions class.
EU and EFTA Member States or UK
Consult EU energy efficiency regulations or local laws to determine if the certification
attribute is needed. This applies to products with rescaled EU energy labels, such as:
- Fridges and freezers
- Dishwashers
- Televisions and external monitors
- Household washing machines and washer-dryers
- Refrigerating appliances with direct-sales function
- Light sources
Implementation
Provide the certification
attribute in your product data for applicable products. Google will use the EU EPREL database to display the appropriate energy efficiency class in Shopping ads and free listings.
