The v21 release of the Google Ads API has been announced, requiring users to upgrade their client libraries and client code to access new features. Minor versions v20.1 and v19.2 are also being released. Key features include:
A new field, contains_eu_political_advertising, has been added to the Campaign object, allowing users to declare if their campaign contains political advertising for the EU. If set to true, the campaign will not serve in the EU starting September 23, 2025. This feature is available in v20.1 and v19.2 without needing to upgrade to v21.
The campaign_search_term_view aggregates search term data at the campaign level, particularly for Performance Max campaigns. Users are encouraged to migrate from search_term_view to this new view.
Brand guidelines will be automatically enabled for new campaigns.
The ai_max_setting.enable_ai_max field can now be used to enable AI Max for Search campaigns, which utilizes machine learning to enhance keyword targeting, generate ad creatives, and direct users to relevant landing pages.
A new view, ai_max_search_term_ad_combination_view, will provide search term data for AI Max for Search campaigns, with plans for a consolidated version in future API updates.
Users can now add Terms & Service, QR codes, and various barcodes to PromotionAssets.
