Nicholas McDonough discovered that AI overviews on Google do not trigger for incognito searches, only for logged-in searches. This is confirmed by Google's documentation:
"Make sure you’re signed in to your Google Account with Incognito mode turned off."
This approach is logical because generating AI overviews is costly for Google, and incognito searches could be performed by bots scraping the SERPs.
