Meta provides the option to place business tools like the Meta Pixel into a 'Core' setup. When this setup is enabled, Meta may limit data in Custom Parameters and the URL after the domain when creating Custom Audiences. This setup aims to minimize the sharing of information that violates the Meta Business Tools Terms.
To check if Core setup is enabled, go to 'Meta Events Manager', click 'Data sources', select your data source and click the Settings tab. If Core setup is active, it will be visible here.
There are several potential limitations with the Core setup:
- Creation of custom audiences based on custom parameters or parts of the URL may take longer or may not be usable in campaigns.
- Ads may pause if they utilize restricted custom audiences in their ad sets. This requires reviewing or creating new custom audiences.
- Certain information related to custom parameters and parts of the URL after the domain may no longer be visible in Events Manager.
- If your Meta Business Tool is in core setup, the use of Automatic advanced matching may no longer be possible.
- Adding items to your catalog via the Meta Pixel may not work, necessitating manual addition of items.
