Meta has launched the Meta AI app, a new AI chatbot designed to compete in the AI landscape. This app is tailored to understand user preferences, remember context, and provide personalized interactions. It features a Discover feed for users to share and explore AI usage, and it integrates with Meta's AI glasses and the meta.ai platform for seamless access.
Built on Llama 4, the app allows users to engage in voice conversations, enhancing the personal and conversational tone of interactions. It also includes features for image generation and editing through voice or text. A voice demo using full-duplex speech technology is available for testing, although the AI does not access real-time web information.
Initially, voice conversations are accessible in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Meta AI aims to assist users in problem-solving and navigating daily questions, drawing on personalized data from their Meta profiles. Users can instruct Meta AI to remember personal details, enhancing the relevance of responses.
The app's Discover feed allows users to see and remix prompts shared by others, maintaining user control over what is posted. Meta AI is integrated across various platforms, including Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, and Ray-Ban Meta glasses, providing a consistent experience.
The web version of Meta AI has also been upgraded with voice interactions and the Discover feed, optimized for larger screens. New features include improved image generation and a document editor for creating and exporting documents. Users can control their experience with settings for voice interactions, making it easy to engage with the AI while multitasking.
The Meta AI app is available for download on iOS and Android.
