Chatting with AI has become essential for obtaining information and asking sensitive questions related to health, loans, or career advice. Meta is launching Incognito Chat with Meta AI on WhatsApp and the Meta AI app, enabling completely private conversations with AI. This feature uses WhatsApp’s Private Processing technology to ensure that conversations are invisible to everyone, including Meta.
Privacy Features of Incognito Chat
Unlike other apps with incognito modes that still see incoming questions and outgoing answers, Incognito Chat is truly private. No one, not even Meta, can access or read the conversations. When users start an Incognito Chat, they create a private, temporary conversation visible only to themselves. Messages are processed in a secure environment inaccessible to Meta, are not saved, and by default, disappear after the session ends. This allows users to ask questions and explore ideas without any surveillance.
Future Developments
Meta plans to expand private AI chat options on WhatsApp. In the coming months, they will introduce Sidechat protected by Private Processing, which will offer private AI assistance within any WhatsApp chat, using the context of the conversation without interrupting the main chat.
