The announcement introduces new Search Generative AI performance reports in Search Console, including dedicated reports for Search and Discover, aimed at helping site owners understand their site's visibility within generative AI features on Search. These reports provide a focused view of impressions in AI features such as AI Overviews and AI Mode, alongside generative AI features in Discover, complementing the overall performance report that tracks site visibility in Google Search.
Features of the New Reports
The reports offer detailed insights into:
- Impressions: Frequency of URLs from a site appearing in generative AI features in Search and Discover.
- Pages: Identification of specific URLs shown within AI features.
- Countries: Visibility breakdown by country.
- Devices: Device types used by viewers (available for Search results).
- Dates: Performance monitoring with hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly granularity.
Rollout and Feedback
These reports are initially being rolled out to a subset of websites for thorough testing and feedback collection before wider availability. Users are encouraged to provide feedback through the "Submit feedback" link in Search Console, a dedicated feedback form for these reports, or via the Google Search Central Community.
Ongoing Development
Google continues to collaborate with website owners to determine the most useful insights and data, with plans to add additional metrics over time to better inform site strategies.
The announcement is posted by Hillel Maoz, Search Ecosystem Engineering Manager, and Moshe Samet, Product Manager Lead for Search Console.
