Google Ads Data Manager is a tool that allows you to import and manage data from outside of Google and activate it in Google Ads. It centralizes data management, enabling you to connect a data source once and activate it across multiple Google destinations. It offers features such as centralized data source management, point-and-click onboarding, guided workflows, data and file formatting, and scheduled imports.
Data Manager is designed to import your first-party data and activate it for use in Google destinations like Customer Match and Offline Conversion Ingestion. It uses three concepts to describe data:
- Data source: A connected product, imported file, or third-party integration.
- Connection: A data object imported from a data source.
- Destination: A use case where imported data is activated.
To use Data Manager effectively, you need to:
- Prepare your data for import: Ensure your data is refreshed in the data source before a manual or scheduled connection run.
- Make your data available: All use cases require one table or dataview per conversion event or audience list. Some data sources require proper credentials for connection.
- Format your data: If you're uploading a file, it must contain headers in the first line and have an extension. Data Manager supports converting dates and times of various formats into a logical timestamp.
Supported data sources include Amazon Redshift, Amazon S3, BigQuery, Google Cloud Storage, HTTPS, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Salesforce, SFTP, and Snowflake.
Data Manager also offers transformation actions to help with field mapping during connection setup. Some transformations are automatically recommended and can be modified or added as needed.
