Google announced an updates to its Cryptocurrencies and related products policy, set to take effect in February 2025. The policy revision specifically addresses the requirements for cryptocurrency advertising in the United Arab Emirates.
Starting February 26, 2025, cryptocurrency exchanges and software wallet providers targeting the UAE market must obtain Google certification and meet strict regulatory requirements before advertising their services.
To qualify for advertising, providers must hold valid licenses from one of these regulatory authorities:
- Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA)
- Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority (VARA)
- Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA)
Google emphasizes that advertisers must comply with all local laws in their targeted advertising regions. The policy will be implemented globally across all accounts advertising cryptocurrency-related financial products.
For policy violations, Google will implement a graduated enforcement approach. Advertisers will receive a minimum 7-day warning period before any account suspension takes effect, ensuring operators have time to address compliance issues.
