Google has notified some Google Merchant Center e-commerce site managers about a new annotation that may appear in search results, indicating the number of shoppers who have recently purchased from their site. The annotation could read as, "1K shopped here recently."
The notification was shared by Menachem Ani and states, "We'll use your conversion data to create a customer history signal that highlights your online store's popularity to Google shoppers." Google further explained that this feature could help "build shopper confidence in your business."
Site managers have the option to opt out. However, Google clarified that even if opted out, it may "still use your data to power various annotations and features that benefit your performance, but will no longer display exact conversion figures."
The new annotation or label is yet to be seen in the Google Search results.
