Google has streamlined the cost data import process in Google Analytics by reducing the number of required fields for data integration.
The updated system now requires only three essential fields for cost data import:
- Source
- Medium
- Date
Two previously required fields have become optional in the import process:
- Campaign_name
- Campaign_id
While these campaign fields are no longer mandatory, Google strongly recommends their inclusion when available for more detailed reporting capabilities. Without these optional fields, cost data will be displayed in aggregate form when viewing campaign-specific dimensions.
This update reflects Google's efforts to simplify data import processes while maintaining the option for granular reporting capabilities when needed.
