Facebook is introducing a new system to help creators avoid penalties for first-time violations of Facebook's Community Standards. Creators who violate rules for the first time will be required to complete an in-app educational training about the specific policy they breached. Upon completion, their warning will be removed, and if they avoid further violations for a year, they can participate in the "remove your warning" experience again.
New Training for Creators
Meta is rolling out a feature focused on educating rather than punishing most first-time violators, starting with Professional Mode users. When a creator violates Community Standards for the first time, they will receive a notification to complete an in-app educational training. Upon completion, their warning will be removed from their record. If they avoid another violation for one year, they can participate in the "remove your warning" experience again.
Consequences of Repeated Violations
If a second violation occurs within a year after the initial warning removal, a warning will be issued to the Professional Profile which cannot be removed. Subsequent violations could result in reduced account reach and limited monetization opportunities.
Meta aims to make creators feel safe and empowered on Facebook. When a creator receives a violation notice, they will be notified that their content has been removed and why, and will be offered the chance to remove the warning from their account.
Meta emphasizes the importance of clarity on policies and rules to help keep the Facebook community safe. The focus is on helping people understand why their content was removed to prevent re-offending. Serious violations, such as content involving sexual exploitation, high-risk drugs, or dangerous organizations, are ineligible for warning removal. Meta will continue to remove content that violates policies.
Currently, the warning removal feature is available to users in Professional Mode, with plans to roll it out more broadly in the coming months.
