Amazon has introduced five new visual search features aimed at enhancing the shopping experience by making product searches faster and more precise. These innovations have led to a 70% increase in visual searches year over year. Here are the new features:
Visual Suggestions
When customers type a visual description like "flannel shirt," Amazon now displays descriptive image suggestions. Shoppers can select the image that best matches their search, leading to more relevant product results.
Add Text to Image Search
Customers can upload an image to Amazon Lens and add text to refine their search. For instance, uploading a photo of a beige three-seat sofa and adding specifications like brand, color, or dimensions will yield more precise search results.
More Like This
If a customer finds a product they like but wants variations (e.g., a different length or with sleeves), they can tap "More Like This" on any product image to find similar items, speeding up their search process.
Videos in Search
Customers can now watch product videos directly within the search results for items like home goods, appliances, toys, and electronics, providing a more seamless shopping experience without needing to click on individual products.
Circle to Search
When viewing an image, customers can isolate and search for a specific item using the circle feature. By uploading the image to Amazon Lens, they can draw a circle around the desired item, adjust the bounding boxes, or move them to focus on different items within the image.
Amazon continues to innovate with features like the generative AI-powered shopping assistant, Rufus, and enhanced customer review highlights and product recommendations. These advancements aim to continually improve the shopping experience based on customer feedback.
