Meta is updating its advertising requirements for securities and investment ads targeting users in India. All advertisers, including those running global campaigns, must verify the individual or organization benefiting from and paying for the ads by providing their Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) registration information. If exempt from SEBI registration, alternative verification options like identity or business verification are available. The verified information will be disclosed on the ads.
Timing
Compliance will be enforced starting July 31, 2025, with variations based on when advertisers become eligible to set the beneficiary and payer of their ads. Notifications will inform advertisers of their eligibility to complete the verification process. Meta will begin rolling out the verification process on June 26, aiming for 100% availability to eligible advertisers globally by July 28, 2025. Advertisers will have at least one month to complete the requirements once eligible.
Required Action
Verify Information: Advertisers must verify who benefits from and pays for the ads through supported ad tools. Proactive verification can be done via the Authorizations and Verifications tab in Meta Business Suite.
Select Verified Information: After verification, advertisers must select the verified beneficiary and payer information to be disclosed on the ads. This will include a disclaimer with the name and SEBI registration number (if applicable) during the ad creation process.
Verification information will be publicly displayed on the ads and stored in Meta’s Ad Library for up to 7 years. Advertisers can set a default beneficiary and payer in Ads Manager or include specific parameters for new ad sets created on or after July 31, 2025.
Additional Notes
Active ads published before July 31, 2025 do not need edits for compliance, provided the account is verified. It is recommended that advertisers complete the verification process themselves, which may involve submitting business documents or receiving a one-time passcode linked to the client’s web domain. Clients should have partial access to accounts running ads on their behalf to facilitate verification.
