Meta is expanding account-level controls to include more audience exclusions, applicable to all campaigns within an ad account.
Audience Controls
Two new options are being gradually released, in addition to the two existing ones:
Existing Options
- My business can only advertise in specific locations: Restrict or exclude ad distribution to specific locations.
- Minimum age restrictions: Set a minimum age between 18 and 25 for your ads.
New Options
- My business restricts advertising to some audiences to protect its brand: Prevent ads from showing to selected audiences based on lists in the account.
- My business doesn’t show ads to its own employees: Exclude people who have listed a specific company as their employer on their Facebook profile. Only one employer can be excluded.
Placement Controls
No changes have been made to Placement Controls, which allow you to exclude four placement types from ad delivery (only for auction campaigns):
- Audience Network native, banner, and interstitial
- Audience Network rewarded videos
- Facebook Marketplace
- Facebook right column
Setting Account Controls
To set account controls for your ad account:
- Open Advertising settings.
- Select Audience controls.
- (Optional) Toggle on My business can only advertise in specific locations to include or exclude countries or country groups.
- (Optional) Toggle on My business sells or advertises age-restricted goods or services. Select the Minimum age drop-down to choose an age.
- (Optional) Toggle on My business restricts advertising to some audiences to protect its brand. Use the search bar under Exclude people who match to exclude audiences.
- (Optional) Toggle on My business doesn't show ads to its own employees. Use the search bar under Exclude people who match to exclude an employer.
- (Optional, for Auction campaigns only) Select Placement controls. Toggle on My business can only advertise on specific placements to exclude Audience Network, Facebook Marketplace, and Facebook right column. Unselect placements by unticking the boxes.
- Select Review changes.
- Check your settings and select Apply if they are correct.
Changes to existing campaigns may take up to 48 hours to take effect. More information can be found on Meta's help center.
