The Google Search app for iPhone and iPad now offers customizable homescreen icons. Users can choose from four options: the default red, yellow, green, and blue ‘G’ logo on white, a dark background version, a dark ‘G’ on a light background, and the reverse. This feature mirrors the customization options available for the Google Search bar widget on Android.
To change the app icon, users need to tap their profile image in Google Search and navigate to Settings > General > Change app icon. This feature is available starting from version 324.0.
Additionally, the app includes customizable backgrounds for its square and rectangular Search widgets with options like Earth and Abstract art that can update daily. The Google app on iOS is comprehensive, offering features such as Read Aloud, Google Password Manager access, and system-wide autofill support.
