This update allows users to track how visitors discover their sites through popular chatbots such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude by categorizing these visits under an "AI Assistant" channel in the Default Channel Group reports.
Key Updates to Traffic Source Dimensions
- Medium: Automatically assigns the value
"ai-assistant"when the referrer matches a recognized AI assistant. - Channel Group: Visits from AI assistants are grouped under the new "AI Assistant" channel.
- Campaign: Traffic from AI sources is labeled with the campaign name
"(ai-assistant)".
This feature enables businesses to monitor the influence of generative AI on their traffic by tracking user clicks, identifying trending AI sources, and comparing AI-driven traffic against traditional channels like organic search.
