Starting in April 2026, the Google Ads API will undergo infrastructure upgrades aimed at enhancing the Offline Conversion Import experience. These improvements will not cause any breaking changes but may lead to minor fluctuations in attribution rates during rollout.
Key Improvements and Rollout Timeline
Improved Attribution and Fallback Recovery (April 2026):
Changes will enable attribution of some expired GCLIDs and clicks that happened before a conversion event. This update is expected to reduce EXPIRED_EVENT and CONVERSION_PRECEDES_EVENT errors in conversion upload responses and increase attribution rates.
Flexible Import Requests (April - May 2026):
The authorization structure for conversion import requests will be enhanced, simplifying the process for manager or client accounts to import conversions on behalf of different trafficking accounts. This will likely reduce UNAUTHORIZED_CUSTOMER and INVALID_CUSTOMER_FOR_CLICK errors and potentially increase attribution.
