Apple has revised its App Store screenshot requirements in response to the newly announced iPhone 16 Pro. This update adjusts the dimensions needed for app submissions to match the latest device specifications.
Key Changes for iPhone Screenshots:
New 6.9-inch Requirement:
- Now required: 6.9-inch screenshots
- Dimensions: 1290 x 2796 pixels (portrait) or 2796 x 1290 pixels (landscape)
- Alternative: 1320 x 2868 pixels (portrait) or 2868 x 1320 pixels (landscape)
Replaced Sizes:
- 6.9-inch screenshots replace the previous 6.7-inch requirement
- 5.5-inch screenshots are no longer needed
Applicability:
- Required for apps running on iPhone if 6.5" display screenshots aren't provided
- Applies to iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 16 Plus, and previous Pro Max and Plus models
Changes for iPad Screenshots:
- Only one set of iPad screenshots is now required
- Screenshots for older iPad generations have been removed from the requirements
Impact on Developers:
- Developers need to update their screenshot assets to comply with the new 6.9-inch requirement
- The removal of older screenshot sizes simplifies the submission process
- Existing apps may need to update their App Store listings to include the new screenshot sizes
This update ensures that App Store listings will accurately represent how apps appear on the newest iPhone models, particularly the iPhone 16 Pro series.
