Verified accounts include those paying for X Premium or those with over 2,500 verified followers, a status reinstated for high-profile accounts after the removal of legacy verifications.
X Premium has not achieved the expected success, with only a small percentage of users subscribing. Despite new features like access to the Grok AI chatbot, subscription uptake remains low. Consequently, X continues to rely heavily on ad revenue, contrary to Elon Musk's goal of reducing ad dependency to allow for more flexible moderation policies.
The utility of the verified-only search filter is questionable given the low subscription rates. However, X aims to increase Premium subscriptions, which could make this filter more useful in the future.
