Meta has updated how creative media is selected for ad placements. Instead of choosing the right media crop during upload, advertisers now upload multiple creatives in different aspect ratios and customize each one in the new 'Customize media' interface. This interface allows setting different crops, text, and destinations for each media asset, as well as excluding specific placements for individual media.
If no customization is done, Meta will automatically crop and select media tailored to each user and placement. Meta recommends keeping all placements enabled to enhance creative diversity and maximize ad reach. However, it is still advisable to exclude certain placements manually, such as excluding vertical placements like 'Stories' and 'Reels' when uploading a 4:5 image for the feed.
Additionally, Meta automatically adds 'Related media' when uploading new creatives, so advertisers should review and remove these to maintain full control.
