Google launches a new Merchant API

Google announces the Merchant API Beta, a redesigned version of the Content API for Shopping. This new API offers several enhancements, including modular design, isolated sub-API updates, and alignment with Google's API improvement proposals. Users are encouraged to try the beta version and provide feedback.

Highlights

Sub APIs with New Features

  • Data Sources: Enables multiple API feed creation and management, improved supplemental feed management, and support for other shopping feeds like promotions.
  • Notifications: Allows push notifications for account and product data changes.
  • Products: Unifies Product & ProductStatuses resources, supports inserting products into non-API data sources.
  • Inventory: Enhances management with the ability to remove in-store or regional inventories.
  • Accounts: Introduces new terms of signing (ToS) functionality and multi-language support for accessing account issues.
  • Local Feeds Partnership: Offers granular inventory management and availability status submissions for point-of-sale data providers.

  • Quota: Adds fields like version, sub-API, and adjustments for better quota management.
  • Reports: Introduces a new NonProductPerformanceView table for insights into non-product performance data.

The Merchant API will be the primary platform for new features in the Merchant Center. While there isn't feature completeness between the Content API and Merchant API yet, more features will be added based on user feedback and new developments.
