Long-Form Videos Boost Brand Recall More Than Short-Form Content, Study Finds

Creating long-form videos is more beneficial for brand recall compared to short-form videos, despite the latter's higher view counts. Platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts are immensely popular, with YouTube Shorts alone generating 70 billion daily views. However, an experiment involving 100 participants consuming long-form (5 minutes or more) and short-form (1 minute or less) content revealed exciting insights.

Participants watched an hour's content—15 minutes of long-form and 45 minutes of short-form. They could skip content they didn't enjoy. The next day, they were questioned about the content they watched to assess recall.

Results:

Out of 100 people, long-form content resulted in better recall compared to short-form content (34.91% vs 3.22%).

Recommendation:

Create long-form content and repurpose it into short-form videos to maximize engagement and brand recall.
