Google has fully removed the feature displaying the number of results found, also known as the results count, from the Google Search results page. This change was first noticed in the Google Search Generative Experience last June, and Google had been testing its removal for a while. The absence of the results count is noticeable across all types of queries, not just site commands.
The removal has sparked complaints among users, particularly on platforms like WebmasterWorld and X. Many users found the page count useful for various reasons. Some used it to gauge how many pages Google had indexed from a site, despite Google's assertion that this is not a reliable estimate. Others used the count to assess the importance and competitiveness of a topic, to create compelling headlines about a topic, or simply to see how many results Google could display for a specific query.
However, it's worth noting that users can still access the results count by clicking on the "Tools" option.
